Heathrow to Gatwick Chauffeur Transfer: A Connecting Flight Guide

Heathrow to Gatwick Chauffeur Transfer: A Connecting Flight Guide

A flight itinerary that arrives at Heathrow and departs from Gatwick needs a separate ground-transfer plan. Your chauffeur journey is one part of that connection: airport procedures, baggage collection, road conditions and the next airline’s deadlines all need their own allowance.

London VIP Chauffeur can quote a private transfer for your confirmed itinerary, with the vehicle chosen around your passengers and luggage. Send both flight numbers before booking so the collection and destination terminals can be checked together.

Start with your onward flight’s check-in deadline

The time between the first flight landing and the second flight departing is not all available for driving. Work backwards from the time your airline requires you at the departure terminal, including bag-drop, document checks, security and boarding.

Before arranging the car, ask your airline or travel organiser whether the flight combination is suitable and what happens if the first flight is delayed. Do not assume that a chauffeur booking protects a separate onward airline ticket.

Plan the complete Heathrow–Gatwick journey

Your itinerary should allow separately for leaving the aircraft, completing any required arrival procedures, collecting luggage, meeting the chauffeur, travelling by road and reaching the correct departure terminal. The road route and expected journey time depend on the terminals, time of day and current conditions.

An optimistic map estimate is not a safe connection plan. A private vehicle gives you a journey reserved for your party, but it cannot remove congestion, airport queues or airline deadlines. For airport information, consult Heathrow’s guidance on travel between airports.

Confirm the collection and destination terminals

For a Heathrow chauffeur pickup, provide the arriving flight number, travel date and confirmed terminal. Your booking confirmation explains where to meet after completing arrival procedures. Keep a working passenger mobile number available and contact dispatch if you are delayed inside the terminal.

For the destination, specify Gatwick North or South Terminal according to your departing flight. Check the airline’s latest information rather than copying a terminal from an old itinerary. Our Gatwick chauffeur transfer service also covers journeys in the reverse direction, subject to availability.

Choose the vehicle around the actual luggage

A saloon may suit a smaller party, while a Mercedes-Benz V-Class can offer more practical space for families or groups. Passenger numbers alone do not establish whether everything will fit. Send the quantity and approximate size of suitcases, cabin bags, pushchairs and any equipment, along with child-seat requests.

We confirm the suitable vehicle and practical capacity before booking. Our chauffeur luggage capacity guide explains the details to provide without relying on a generic suitcase allowance.

Understand what your transfer quotation includes

Your quotation is based on the agreed airport-to-airport route, vehicle, date and itinerary. London VIP Chauffeur’s quoted prices include VAT. Standard commercial airport arrivals include flight monitoring, meet-and-greet, parking and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting from actual landing.

The confirmation records the agreed arrangements and any additional waiting or requested extras. This is a point-to-point transfer; the five-hour minimum for hourly hire does not automatically apply. If you need a hotel stop or another collection, include it in the initial enquiry so its effect on the connection can be reviewed.

If your arriving flight changes

Tell the booking team promptly if the airline changes the flight number, arrival airport or travel date. If a delay threatens the onward flight, contact the airline about the ticket and update dispatch with the revised itinerary. Flight monitoring does not guarantee an onward connection or unlimited waiting.

For the wider amendment process, read our guide to chauffeur bookings when flights are delayed. Check any applicable UK transit or entry requirements through official GOV.UK guidance before arranging a landside airport transfer.

Request your Heathrow–Gatwick transfer quote

Send both flight numbers and dates, collection and departure terminals, passenger numbers, luggage details, a working mobile number and any special requirements. Include the onward airline’s required terminal-arrival time so the whole schedule can be discussed.
