Chauffeur Meet-and-Greet vs Airport Meet & Assist: What’s the Difference?

Chauffeur Meet-and-Greet vs Airport Meet & Assist: What’s the Difference?

A chauffeur can greet you in arrivals, while an airport Meet & Assist representative may support you through parts of the terminal. The names sound similar, but they describe different bookings. Knowing where each service begins helps you arrange the right support without paying for something you do not need.

This guide compares the roles, including where a porter fits into your arrival plan.

The main difference: where the help begins

Chauffeur meet-and-greet: an agreed meeting in public arrivals, followed by help to your booked vehicle and your onward road journey.

Airport Meet & Assist: terminal guidance and support whose meeting point and scope depend on the airport, provider and package.

Porter service: help moving luggage within the airport’s permitted service area.

One booking does not automatically include the other two. Ask for an itemised confirmation if you want several services.

What does a chauffeur arrivals greeting include?

For a standard international arrival, you pass through passport control, collect your luggage and clear customs before meeting your chauffeur at the agreed public arrivals point. A tablet nameboard helps you identify the person collecting you.

With London VIP Chauffeur, the standard airport transfer includes meet-and-greet, flight monitoring, parking and 60 minutes of free waiting from actual landing. Your chauffeur helps with luggage from the meeting point to the vehicle. See our Heathrow airport transfer service for booking details.

This greeting does not include access to restricted airport areas, immigration priority or an escort from the aircraft. If you need help before reaching public arrivals, confirm a separate airport service.

What is airport Meet & Assist?

Airport Meet & Assist focuses on navigating the terminal. Depending on the package, a representative may guide passengers through arrival, departure or connection procedures. Heathrow lists several providers on its official Meet & Assist page.

Confirm the exact starting point, areas covered and handover location directly with the chosen provider. Do not assume that fast-track, lounge entry or aircraft-door greeting is included. Those details require explicit confirmation for your flight and terminal.

Airport assistance is separately booked and priced unless your written quotation specifically includes it. A chauffeur reservation alone does not establish an airport-assistance arrangement.

When would you use a porter?

A porter is useful when moving several suitcases through the terminal is the main concern. Heathrow describes arrivals portering from baggage reclaim to onward travel, and departures portering from the drop-off area to check-in. It does not include carrying hand luggage beyond security. Check current availability, limits and charges on the official Heathrow porter page.

Portering and vehicle luggage capacity are separate questions. Even if someone helps move your bags, the booked car still needs room for every passenger and item. Our chauffeur vehicle luggage guide explains what to share before choosing a vehicle.

Which arrangement fits your journey?

You are comfortable navigating arrivals: a chauffeur greeting in public arrivals may be all you need.

You want guidance within the terminal: compare airport Meet & Assist packages and confirm their precise scope.

You have a large amount of luggage: check porter support as well as vehicle capacity.

You need accessibility support: arrange the appropriate assistance through your airline or airport. Do not assume paid concierge or a chauffeur booking provides it.

What to confirm when combining services

Give each provider the same flight number, travel date, passenger name and terminal information. Agree one handover point and identify who will contact whom when you reach it. Confirm any charges for delays, waiting, additional bags or changes before travelling.

For example, an airport representative might guide a passenger to public arrivals, then hand over to the chauffeur for the drive. That sequence should be agreed in advance; it is not an automatic feature of either booking.

Frequently asked questions

Will my chauffeur meet me before passport control?

A standard chauffeur arrivals greeting takes place in the public arrivals area after passport control, baggage reclaim and customs. Any assistance earlier in the airport journey needs a separately confirmed arrangement.

Does meet-and-greet mean fast-track immigration?

No. A nameboard greeting does not include immigration priority. Ask the airport-assistance provider to confirm exactly what its package permits.

Can I combine airport assistance with a chauffeur?

Yes, when both bookings are confirmed and the handover is agreed. Share the airport provider’s meeting instructions when you request your chauffeur transfer quotation, so the collection plan can reflect them.
